Daily Photo 65: Samos

My heart leaps up when I behold A rainbow in the sky So said Wordsworth, and it’s impossible to see a rainbow without recalling his lines. This photo was taken while leaving the Greek island of Samos to return to Kuşadası in Turkey. (Photo taken in September 2015)

Daily Photo 59: Corfu (2)

This villa in Corfu, called Mon Repos and now open to the public, was built as the summer residence for the Lord High Commissioner when the Ionian Islands were a British Protectorate (1815–1864). The Duke of Edinburgh was born here in 1921. (Photo taken in July 2014)

Daily Photo: 8 Heraklion

The Minoan treasures in the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion make it one of the best museums of its kind anywhere. Painted on plaster using the fresco technique and depicting ritual ceremonies in honour of the dead, this richly decorated limestone sarcophagus is more than three millennia old.
