Delightful courtyard in the grounds of the Charterhouse, formerly a Carthusian monastery and still functioning as an almshouse to this day. The Charterhouse is situated in the equally delightful Charterhouse Square in the Smithfield district of London.
Note, on the sundial, the use of VIIII for 9 rather than the more customary IX (IIII is usually used for 4 on Roman numeral timepieces).
