The Carpet Gardens along the promenade in Eastbourne must rank among the finest of any seaside resort in the United Kingdom. The two gold-topped towers on the right mark the entrance to the pier, where you can have refreshments in the Victorian Tea Rooms.
The Grade II* listed Claremont Hotel, upper left, was all but destroyed in a fire last November.
