The old town of Corfu’s capital was built by the Venetians. The seat of British rule – when the Ionian Islands were a British protectorate – now houses an Asian art museum. And a park alongside the Esplanade is named after Lawrence and Gerald Durrell (‘Writers and Philhellenes’).
