Rich in museums and galleries, not to mention bookstores (including Furet du Nord, one of the largest in Europe), Lille can easily be visited on a daytrip from London. Last year it was honouring Mexican culture, as can be seen from these exuberant beasts atop their pedestals in the road running up to the city’s old Flanders railway station.
