The Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty, situated on the outskirts of Winchester, continues the ancient tradition of providing the Wayfarer’s Dole, which may be requested by any visitor at the Porter’s Lodge and consists of a horn of beer and a morsel of bread (though I’ve never myself requested it, I’m assured it’s regularly provided). This view shows the Master’s Garden.
